Vantages of a passive house

It is safe

A timber building, thanks to elastic properties of wood, its lightness and capacity to dampen mechanical stresses, responds excellently to seismic events, not only as resistance to earthquakes but also in terms of damages to the structure which can be restored with a few and limited interventions.
In addition, as a passive house does not require many resources for living space heating, it can be built without a gas system, which implies a greater safety. Fire risk also is limited since the kitchen is not provided with naked fames for cooking.

It is eco-friendly

A passive house does not dissipate heat and  requires very little energy, so that CO2 emissions are reduced. The little energy needed is produced from solar energy, a totally ecological and renewable way. Wood, of which a passive house is made, is renewable and recyclable too as it comes from certified forests. For example, the amount of wood needed to build 150 m2 house re-grows in European forests in less than a minute!

It is economical

The absence of a gas system implies a reduction of costs in the construction phase of the building and a consequent lower cost for annual maintenance. For the same reason, the cost of house insurance against fire and gas explosion is reduced.
Therefore, costs for heating/cooling are almost cut. Compared with a concrete structure, construction time of a timber house can be halved, which entails lower incidence of costs in the building site.

Moreover, it gains value over time because it is in line with the requirements imposed by EU by 2020 (n.31/2010 regulation).

It is healthy

In a passive house the mechanical ventilation system recovers and filters the air which is therefore clean and free from bad smells.
Room temperature is uniform without draughts near doors and windows or warmer air next to radiators.
The constant air recirculation ensures a low humidity level which prevents the formation of moulds.

It is enjoyable and desirable

Our company does not build passive houses according to a catalogue because each of them is unique. For this reason, there is no shape limit and the customer has the total freedom of construction in collaboration with our designers.
